Lunch on the Lawn offered

TROY — The Miami County Cattlemen’s Association will offer a drive through lunch on the lawn from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, July 24 at the Miami County Fairgrounds.

PHS graduate publishes book

GERMANTOWN — The Rev. Gary Wheeler, a 1979 graduate of Piqua, recently published “Hanging On In An Upside Down World,” a book about how to get through the events in life that turn one’s world upside down.

Pastor Wheeler said, “No matter what is happening in a person’s life, be it a cancer diagnosis or a death or loss of a job, Jesus has a way to take us from our worst to our best.”

Wheeler is the son of the late Jim and Beverly Wheeler, former pastor of Lockington United Methodist Church. He is also the son-in-law of Glenn and the late Carol Devers. Glenn was a long-time teacher in Piqua, while Carol worked for the Piqua Daily Call.

Wheeler is the pastor of Germantown United Methodist Church in Germantown.

Meals offered

TIPP CITY — The Tipp City American Legion Post 586 will offer meals for dine-in and carry-out in the coming week.

On Wednesday, July 22, tuna salad with chips and a pickle will be offered for $4 and will be available from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Taco salad will be offered on Thursday, July 23 for dine-in or carry-out on Thursday, July 23. . Serving begins at 5:30 p.m. and will cost $5.

On Friday, July 24, meatloaf with mashed potatoes, veggie and dessert will be served dine-in or carry-out for $8 and available from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Sun. 7/26 – Breakfast, dine-in or carry-out, is available from 9-11 a.m. on Sunday, July 26. The menu will include scrambled eggs, biscuit and gravy, bacon and/or sausage and a pancake for $5.

Volunteers needed

TIPP CITY — Volunteer opportunities are available now for the Tipp Monroe Community Services Lunch On Us program. Volunteer opportunities are available through Aug. 14. LOU provides free lunches to children during the summer months at the United Methodist Church at 8 W. Main St., from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Duties will include helping in meal preparation, packaging of food, and clean up. Contact (9437) 667-8631 for more information.

WEST MILTON – Join Tina of the Milton-Union Public Library from 4-4:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14 and 28.
