Health commissioner to address council
TROY — Troy City Council has planned for a presentation from the Miami County Health District Commissioner Dennis Propes at its meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, at the Bravo Room at Hobart Arena.
A Voice of Democracy
Owen Via, 18, of Newton Township, recently earned a state title in the annual VFW Voice of Democracy competition for the state of Ohio. Via, a senior at Newton High School, represented VFW Post No. 6557 of Pleasant Hill. He will next compete in the national Voice of Democracy competition. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, the date and place are still being determined. Via is the son of Jason and Mandy Via.
EMA director gives COVID, vaccine update
TROY — Miami County remains in the red zone for COVID-19 spread, according to the Ohio Public Health Advisory System, although the county now meets just one of the system’s seven indicators.

TROY — The city of Troy is revisiting adding a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) to downtown Troy with a city council work session scheduled at 6 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Hobart Arena’s Bravo Room.
