Piqua’s Kennedy Fashner perfect at plate; Weekend Softball Roundup

PIQUA — Kennedy Fashner continued to swing a torrid bat and wrapped up a perfect week at the plate as the Piqua softball team won its fifth game in a row Friday over Stebbins by a 21-5 score.

Fashner, who leads the MVL with a .717 average and has five home runs and 38 RBIs in 16 games, was 11-for-11 for the week.

The senior had four doubles, three home runs and 13 RBIs.

Against Stebbins Friday, She was 4-for-4 with three doubles, a home run, four runs scored and four RBIs.

Piqua smacked 11 doubles and two home runs in the game.

Kenzi Anderson was 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBIs, Olivia Anthony was 3-for-4 with a double, Paige Hinkle had a home run and two RBIs and Brooklyn Larck was 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

Caylee Roe was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three runs scored, Chaia Sowers was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, Tarika Sutters was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Reagan Toopes was 3-for-3 with two doubles, four runs scored and two RBIs.

Fashner and Anthony combined on a seven-hitter, striking out six and walking four.

Troy gets

three wins

TROY — The Troy softball team improved to 14-4 with three wins over the weekend.

On Friday, Troy defeated Sidney 9-2.

Allyson Burns had a double and three RBIs, Elise McCann was 4-for-4, Abby Welbaum had two RBIs and Erin Bruce was 3-for-3 with two doubles.

Hallie Frigge and Lauren Fonner both doubled.

Welbaum pitched a seven-hitter, striking out 14.

On Saturday, Troy won twice.

The Trojans defeated Tecumseh 8-6.

Burns was 3-for-4 and McCann was 2-for-4 with a triple.

Ashley Kloeker was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs and Lilly James was 2-for-4 with a double, triple and two RBIs.

James and Welbaum combined on a nine-hitter, striking out 11 and walking one.

Troy defeated Tri-County North 2-1.

Welbaum pitched a two-hitter, striking out six and walking one.

TIPP CITY — The Tippecanoe softball team improved to 11-5 with three wins over the weekend.

On Friday, Tipp defeated Fairborn 15-4.

Kaitlyn Husic was 2-for-3 with a home run and six RBIs, Sidney Unger was 4-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and four RBIs, Corinn Siefring was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs.

Kaela May was 2-for-2 with four runs scored and Kailey Bryson had two RBIs.

Savannah Wead pitched a nine-hitter with three strikeouts and three walks.

On Saturday, the Red Devils swept a doubleheader with Franklin by scores of 14-2 and 15-2.

In the first game, Husic hit another home run, scored three runs and had four RBIs.

Ally Broering was 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBIs, Maddie Carner was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, Mackenzie Foster had a double and Marissa Jennings was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs.

Emma McCormick was 4-for-4 with three runs scored.

Anna Quinn pitched a seven-hitter, with five strikeouts and one walk.

In the second game, Husic and Broering also homered in the second game.

Husic was 4-for-5 with three runs scored and four RBIs, Broering was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, Bryson was 4-for-5 with a double and three RBIs, Ashley Aselage was 2-for-4 with a double and scored three runs and Emma Davis was 3-for-5 with a double.

Unger was 4-for-5 with a double, May was 3-for-6, Siefring was 2-for-5 and Wead was 2-for-4.

Wead pitched a nine-hitter, striking out seven and walking three.

East girls

get two wins

CASSTOWN — The Miami East softball team picked up two wins over the weekend.

On Friday, the Vikings defeated Franklin Monroe 5-0.

Madison Maxson provided the power with two home runs, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs.

Kaitlyn Roop added a double.

Kyleigh Kirby pitched a three-hitter, striking out seven and walking four.

Miami East pounded Greenon 16-1 Saturday.

Jaydyn Maingi was 3-for-3 with three runs scored, a triple and two RBIs.

Abby Leis had a double and two RBIs, Lauren Barnes was 2-for-2 with three RBIs, Jadyn Bair was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, Maddie Lattimer was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs and Ella Fine was 2-for-3.

Annabelle Penny and Lattimer combined on a three-hitter, striking out four and walking two.

win in eight

COVINGTON — The Covington softbaall team defeated National Trail 3-2 in eight innings Friday in CCC action.

With one out and the bases-loade in the home eighth inning, freshman Karyanne Turner lofted a sacrifice fly to score Meg Rogers with the winning run.

Covington improved to 13-6 overall and 7-1 in the CCC.

The Buccs had taken a 2-0 lead on a two-run double by Nigella Reck, scoring Rogers and Kamryn Barnes.

National Trail tied it 2-2.

In the seventh, Trail had a runner one first with one out when catcher Mara Newhouse threw her out trying to steal to stop the rally.

In the home eighth, Rogers beat out an infield single.

She stole second and Allie Garman moved her to third on a sacrifice bunt.

Trail walked Reck and Newhouse to load the bases and set up Turner’s game-winning sacrifice fly.

PLEASANT HILL — The Newton softball team had a night at the plate in a 26-0 win over Twin Valley South Friday in CCC action.

Newton had numerous players with multiple hits and Addy Peters led the 24-hit attack with a grand slam.

Laci Miller pitched a no-hitter, striking out five.

ST. PARIS — The Bethel softball team lost to Graham 15-3.

Liv Reittinger was 2-for-2 and Sam Wiley was 2-for-3.

BRADFORD — Skipp Miller pitched the “perfect” perfect game against Houston Friday night.

Miller struck out all 18 batters she faced on just 67 pitches in throwing her third consecutive no-hitter.

She helped herself at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double, home run and four RBIs, while Austy Miller joined her sister in playing long ball.

She was 2-for-4 with a double, home run and three runs scored.

Izzy Hamilton was 4-for-4 with three runs scored, Abby Fike was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, Rylee Canan was 2-for-4 and Maggie Manuel was 2-for-3.

On Saturday, Bradford faced D-I Miamisburg, who is 16-0 and state-ranked.

Bradford, 15-2, outhit the Vikings four to two, but lost 2-0 when Miamisburg scored two unearned runs.

Austy Miller was 2-for-3 at the plate and Skipp Miller pitched a two-hitter, striking out 14 and walking one.

WAYNESVILLE — The Milton-Union softball team went on the road to pick up a 14-5 win over Waynesville Friday in SWBL action.

Raegan Fulton had a home run and two RBIs and Maddie Baker was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs.

Madison Jones slugged a grand slam and was 2-for-5 with five RBIs, Carley Zimmer was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Jenna Booher was 2-for-3 with a double.
