PIQUA—Yvonne Owen, “Vonnie,” 84, passed away December 27, 2020 at 3:30 pm at Piqua Manor, Piqua, Ohio.

Vonnie was born November 21, 1936 in Piqua, Ohio, the daughter of William and Janis (Mohler) Mottinger. She was raised in Bradford, Ohio and graduated from Bradford High School in 1955. Vonnie was the mother of two sons. She was predeceased earlier this year by her eldest son, Thomas Owen (Sondra) of Sidney, Ohio. She is survived by her youngest son, Jerry Owen (Debra) of Woodstock, Connecticut. She is survived by five grandchildren (Stephanie, Sandy, Mindy, Alex and Sarah) and two great-grandchildren (Eli and Jacob). Vonnie is also survived by her brothers William Mottinger (Ann) of Oregon and Jan Mottinger (Carol) and her sister Tami (Mottinger) Harrison (Nolan), all of Bradford. In addition, she is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Vonnie had previously lived in Phoenix, Arizona where she worked as a certified nursing assistant caring for the elderly in a nursing home for many years. Vonnie loved to laugh, and she sought to entertain people and make them smile by performing as her character, “Splash the Clown”. She also enjoyed her membership at the local gem and mineral club and particularly enjoyed family get-togethers. Vonnie was a devout Christian who shared her faith and positive attitude with everyone she could.

Vonnie had chosen to donate her body to the Wright State University, Boonshoft School of Medicine.

A Celebration of Vonnie’s life will be held at a later date.
