TROY — For two periods, the Troy Hockey team dominated everything but the scoreboard.
In the third period, they took care of that in a rolling to a 4-1 victory over Cincinnati Elder Saturday at Hobart Arena.
The Trojans had outshot Elder 17-3 in the first two periods, with the game played at the Troy end.
But, Troy was unable to find the back of the net, despite several shots that just missed.
In the third period, the Trojans took care of business in a big way.
It started with 13:51 remaining in the game when Colin Burghardt started the onslaught.
Garrett Paff passed the puck to Quinn Gariety, who found Burghardt near the blue line.
Burghardt drilled the puck into the back of the net with a powerful slap shot and it was 1-0.
Just twenty-five seconds later, Paff found the back of the net on a second assist from Gariety.
Just 1:08 later, at the 12:18 mark, Mike McGuirk scored on an assist from Gaven Burris and it was 3-0.
Elder’s Charlie James got the Panthers on the board with 10:42 to play to make it 3-1.
Then, Troy’s Cameron Lombardo joined the scoring party with a goal at the 7:15 mark to make it 4-1.
The only excitement after that was when tempers flared with 4:53 remaining as Troy went on for a 4-1 win.
