PIQUA — Burlin Holbrook, age 92, of Piqua, passed away at 10:44 am on December 12, 2020 in his residence. He was born on Oct. 18, 1928 in West Liberty, Kentucky to the late Ora and Betty (Cantrell) Holbrook.

He married Maxine Young Holbrook May 1985 in Sidney, OH. She preceded him in death on Oct. 23, 2018.

Burlin is survived by two daughters: Teresa Ratliff, Fairborn, OH, Kathy Holbrook, Dayton, OH; one son and daughter-in-law: Frank and Terri Brake, Piqua, OH; one step-daughter: Jeri Young, Piqua, OH; twenty-nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son: Dan James Holbrook and twelve siblings.

Burlin worked for General Motors in Dayton, OH for over 35 years. He attended Elm Tree Church in Conover, OH. Burlin liked guns, knives and going coon hunting. He also loved sitting around and talking to the younger generation about the depression.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday December 17, 2020 at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home, Piqua with Rev. Steve Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua. Family will receive friends 12-1 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
