OAKWOOD — The easy part may now be over.
Undefeated Tippecanoe ran off its third straight shutout since beginning its state title defense this postseason as the top-seeded Red Devils blasted No. 7 Northwestern 8-0 in the district semifinal round of the Division II tournament Monday at Oakwood High School.
Tippecanoe, now 19-0 this year, has not lost in the past two years, going 23-0-1 to win the program’s first state title in 2019.
Monday night, Blake Heeley had two goals and an assist and Drew Harshbarger added two goals to lead the Devils. Owen Hadden and Jackson Kleather each had a goal and an assist, Andrew Baileys and Gavin Darner each had a goal and John Miller had two assists. Goaltender Clay Vaughn only needed to make two saves to post the shutout.
The Devils advance to the district final round on Thursday where they will face the top seed from the Central sectional, Oakwood, at Beavercreek High School. Oakwood (14-1-3) defeated Alter 4-1 Monday night in the other district semifinal. Last year’s district final was Tippecanoe’s first true test, where they defeated Alter 2-1 in overtime.
BEAVERCREEK — Troy was unable to get past the district semifinal round for the third straight season Monday as the sixth-seeded Trojans faced off against No. 1 Centerville, falling 6-0 in the D-I district semis at Beavercreek High School.
Troy finished the season 16-3.

EATON — Troy Christian will be making its fifth straight appearance in the district championship match after the third-seeded Eagles defeated No. 8 Brookville 4-1 Monday at Eaton High School.
Josh Brubaker had a goal and an assist, Nelson Lair, Sam Mathews and Chas Schemmel each scored a goal and Aidan Barnishin, Ty Davis and Evan Murphy each had an assist for the Eagles. In goal, Tanner Conklin made four saves to preserve the victory.
Troy Christian advances to take on Madeira, the No. 2 seed in the South sectional, Thursday at Edgewood High School. Madeira edged out No. 3 Seven Hills 2-1 in the other district semifinal.

MIAMISBURG — The season came to an end for Miami East Monday as the sixth-seeded Vikings fell to No. 5 Yellow Springs 3-1 in the D-III district semifinal round at Miamisburg High School.
