FFA holding fruit sales
CASSTOWN — The Miami East-MVCTC FFA Chapter is now holding their annual fruit fundraiser. The Miami East FFA will be selling Washington Red Delicious apples, Washington Golden Delicious apples, Ohio Red Delicious apples, Ohio Golden Delicious apples, Ohio Fuji apples, Navel oranges, clementines, pears, pineapples, pink grapefruit, mixed fruit, and peanuts. The fruit is sold in full and half boxes.
Miami East-MVCTC FFA is also offering a variety of cheeses, including Colby, Swiss, marble, pepper jack, and horseradish, ring-bologna, large and small fruit gift baskets, and barbecue sauces. Additionally, FFA is offering Jack Link’s Beef Steaks in original or teriyaki flavors.
Miami East-MVCTC FFA chapter will be selling from now through Nov. 13. Delivery will be the first full week in December. If you want to buy fruit there will be FFA members travelling throughout the community. If an FFA member doesn’t contact you, call Miami East High School at 335-7070, Ext. 3212.
TIPP CITY — Tipp Monroe Community Services has announced the annual Halloween parade and costume judging event is canceled for this year. Due to the many restrictions they would have to follow, staff doesn’t believe they can proceed with the event.
Scholarships, essays available
PIQUA — The Piqua American Legion Post 184 is part of a scholarship program. Scholarship information can be seen in the Education/Scholarship area of the alaohio.org. The various scholarships have specific requirements and all must be met by the student applying for the scholarship. Completed scholarships should be returned to Robyn Cooper at 901 W. High St., Piqua, OH 45356.
A nursing scholarship in the Past Presidents Parley section of the website can be applied for each year of a four-year nursing education.
The auxiliary also has an essay contest available in the Americanism section of the website at alaohio.org. Students in third through 12th grade may complete the essay on a specific topic. Completed essays also must be sent to Cooper, and are due by March 15, 2021.

PLEASANT HILL — The Pleasant Hill VFW Post 6557 will offer a dinner from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 for dine-in or carry-out. The meal will include marinated pork chops with baked potato and corn for $9. Un-marinated pork chops also available.
Halloween bash set for Girl Scouts
PLEASANT HILL — The Girl Scouts of Western Ohio will have a Halloween Bash, and celebration of founder Juliette Gordon Low’s birthday, from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22 at Camp Rolling Hills, 1 N. Rangeline Road, Pleasant Hill.
Events will include mask making, bonfire, camp hike, dancing and more. Weather permitting, this event will be held outside.
At least one caregiver must attend the event.
