Veteran’s coffee set
TROY — Join the Miami Valley Veterans Museum volunteers as they present Honor Flight at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7.
The Honor Flight Network is a national network of independent Hubs working together to honor our nation’s veterans with an all-expenses paid trip to the memorials in Washington, D.C., a trip many of our veterans may not otherwise be able to take.
The Piqua-Lewis Boyer Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will serve breakfast.
Honor Flight is the subject of an audio/visual presentation by Steve Sykes, a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. As a professor of engineering at Edison State Community College, Sykes brings a wealth of information, thoroughly documented in film and personal testimony. Larry Blackmore, who will be present, is a lifelong Troy resident has been a volunteer with Honor Flight Dayton for the past 10 years, logging some 62 flights to Washington, D.C., helping veterans of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War travel to our nation’s capital to visit their war memorials.
