TROY/PIQUA — Ryan Groff defeated Austin Hadden on the second hole of a playoff Sunday at Echo Hills, winning the championship flight of the two-day Miami County Championship golf tournament, which began Saturday at Miami Shores Golf Course.
Groff shot 73-69—142 and Hadden shot 70-72—142 to force the playoff, with Groff winning on the second hole to claim the tournament title. Brian Deal was third, shooting 75-73—148, Tom Christy shot 76-73—149 and was fourth and Brian Robbins shot 77-75—152 and was fifth. Jeff Pottinger shot 78-78—156, Phil Kazer shot 79-80—159, Ray Stuchell shot 80-80—160 and Matt Maurer shot 80-81—161.
In the super duper seniors flight, Gary Weaver shot 76-73—149 to win, with Ron Kress finishing second by shooting 76-81—157. Marty Jackson shot 76-83—159, Roger Luring shot 80-81—161 and Jack Holtel shot 82-87—169.
In the super seniors flight, Chris Huston shot 92-75—167 to win, while Ron Moore was second, shooting 90-83—173. Tim Davis shot 99-88—186 and Gary Koenig shot 101-98—199.
In the seniors flight, Jim Sass won, shooting 80-74—154, Mark Allen shot 83-79—162 and Tom Marsh shot 81-82—163.
In the first flight, Andrew Lindeman shot 74-78—152 to win, Jeff Jennings shot 79-78—157 and was second and Doug Harter shot 75-83—158 and was third. Ty Nimer shot 83-77—160, Jim Howard shot 82-80—162, Jim King shot 85-84—169, Jay Dee Denson shot 89-81—170, Brian Stafford shot 90-96—186 and Mike Bosse shot 84-NC.
In the second flight, Rob Kiser posted an 85-87—172 to win, with Creg Rietz finishing second with 86-92—178 and Matt Davis shooting 91-90—181.
