Trojans, Devil volleyball keep pace atop MVL: Monday volleyball roundup

FAIRBORN — The Troy volleyball team put together one of its strongest efforts of the season Monday at Fairborn, winning in a 25-9, 25-3, 25-16 sweep.

Anna Boezi had eight kills, four blocks, three digs and an assist and Macie Taylor had seven kills, 16 digs and three aces — including a lengthy second-set service run — to lead the Trojans (4-0, 4-0 Miami Valley League Miami Division). Morgan Kaiser added four kills, 13 assists, three aces, five digs and a block, Amber Poore had four kills and a block, Hallie Westmeyer had three kills, five blocks and two digs, Ellie Fogarty had two kills, six assists and seven digs and Brennah Hutchinson had 15 digs and an ace. Kasey Sager added two kills and a block, Brynn Siler and Breanna Gray each had a kill and a dig and Ella Curcio had a kill, three assists, two aces and three digs.

After Tuesday’s Senior Night match against Butler, Troy travels to Sidney Thursday.

WEST CARROLLTON — Tippecanoe wasn’t challenged at West Carrollton Monday, improving to 4-0 with a 25-7, 25-9, 25-10 sweep.

Ashley Aselage had 10 kills, Corinn Siefring had seven kills, three blocks and 12 digs, Kaitlyn Husic had five kills, Rachel Wildermuth had five kills and 20 assists, Molly Achtenberg had three kills and two blocks, Alayna Titley had seven digs and two aces, Alex Voisard had eight digs, Hannah Wildermuth had seven assists and Scotti Hoskins had four assists.

After hosting Greenville Tuesday, Tippecanoe hosts Fairborn Thursday.

Covington 1

ANNA — Covington fell to 2-2 Monday, dropping a hard-fought four-set match at Anna, 25-20, 25-17, 21-25, 28-26.

“This was a very frustrating evening,” Covington coach Lonnie Cain said. “We opened up a 17-11 lead in Set 1 and allowed Anna to scrap back into the lead after committing three hitting errors and two service errors. Physically, we are a good team. Mentally, we need to improve.”

Nigella Reck had 10 kills, 10 digs, and ace and a block, Ellery Reck had 29 assists, 16 digs, two kills and two aces, Emmaline Kiser had seven kills, three blocks, six digs and two aces, Carlie Besecker had three kills, three blocks, six digs and an ace and Hillary Hoying had 12 digs.
