Milton, Covington boys golf pick up wins: Thursday/Friday sports roundup

SIDNEY — The Milton-Union boys golf team got an eagle out of medalist Max Grafflin en route to a 183-240 victory over Lehman Friday.

Grafflin shot 40 to lead the Bulldogs (2-1), scoring his eagle on the second hole. Nathan Thompson added a 45, Sam Case shot 48 and Grady Vechazone shot 50.

Noel Peterson led the Cavaliers with a 46, Hezekiah Bezy shot 60, John Gagnet shot 65 and Taylor Geisy shot 69.

Milton-Union travels to Newton Tuesday.

Covington 186,

Arcanum 193

PIQUA — Covington’s Grant Humphrey followed a solid performance at the Kendig Memorial the day before with another quality round.

And this time, he led the Buccaneer boys golf team to a 186-193 victory over visiting Arcanum Thursday at Echo Hills Golf Course in Cross County Conference play.

Humphrey shot a 36 to claim medalist honors — nine strokes better than Arcanum’s top scorer in the Buccs’ seven-stroke win.

Job Morgan added a 46 for the Buccs, Bryson Hite and Connor Humphrey both shot 52, Garret Fraley shot 53 and Hunter Ray shot 59.

Will Brubaker led Arcanum with a 45, Brady Williams shot 46, Chad Pitzer shot 48 and Clay Hess rounded out the Trojans’s scoring with a 54.

Both teams will meet again Monday at the CCC preview at Stillwater Valley Golf Course.
