Special meeting set

TROY — The Miami County Educational Service Center will have a special board meeting at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7 to approve a board policy.

Blood drive Friday

DAYTON — One year ago the shock and grief of the Oregon District mass shooting turned into resolve and compassion as hundreds in the Dayton area honored the victims by donating blood. Community Blood Center is calling on donors to again support the blood supply with the “Donor Strong Blood Drive” from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7 at the Dayton CBC Donation Center, 349 S. Main St.

Everyone who registers to donate will receive a “Donor Strong” long-sleeve T-shirt or tumbler in addition to the “Time to Save a Life” T-shirt and the new “Blood Donor” face mask. Donors must make an appointment at www.DonorTime.com or call (937) 461-3220.

Veteran’s information sought

WEST MILTON — A special Veterans Day program honoring all Union Township veterans and their families will take place on Sunday, Nov. 8 at Hoffman United Methodist Church, West Milton. The program will take place at 2 p.m. and the public is invited to attend.

A video will be created to go along with stories submitted about each veteran featured. Organizers are asking anyone wanting to include family members to send pictures and stories, branch of service, and years served as quickly as possible. Pictures will be returned.
