Piqua police reports

Information provided by the Piqua Police Department:

July 29

TRESPASSING: Officers were requested by the City Manager’s Office to check on individuals who appeared to be living on the square. Two males and one female were found to be homeless and “hanging out.” One male was found to have a warrant and was transported to the jail. Female was transported to Troy to get assistance with housing. Second male subject was cited and released. Keeshawn L. Satterwhite, 25, was picked up for fourth-degree felony failure to provide change of address.

ACCIDENT: A motorcycle was struck by an SUV that had brake and power steering issues at 2:50 p.m. in the area of Park Avenue and North Parkway Drive. Driver was cited, and a traffic crash report was completed.

HIT SKIP ACCIDENT: A female crashed a vehicle with children inside at approximately 3:45 p.m. The location was redacted. She fled the scene but was later located and arrested. Rachel N. Verhotz, 30, was charged with OVI, second-degree misdemeanor resisting arrest, first-degree misdemeanor obstructing official business, fifth-degree felony possession of drugs, and two counts of first-degree misdemeanor endangering children.

TRESPASSING: A juvenile female entered her neighbor’s fenced in yard and swam in the pool without permission to do so at 6:45 p.m. on the 200 block of East Main Street. This has been an ongoing issue, and the juvenile was charged with fourth-degree misdemeanor criminal trespass.

July 30

BREAKING AND ENTERING: Officers were dispatched to a suspicious complaint at 12:30 a.m. on the 1700 block of Commerce Drive. A male ran from officers. A female was arrested. Investigation is pending. Lynn A. Ertel, 29, of Greenville, was charged with fourth-degree felony receiving stolen property and fifth-degree felony breaking and entering in connection with this incident.

THEFT: Individual advised a truck was stolen from the 1700 block of Commerce Drive.

THEFT: An individual advised their bicycle was stolen from the 200 block of Wood Street.

July 31

TRAFFIC STOP: An officer conducted a traffic stop at 1 a.m. on the 1400 block of Covington Avenue. A driver, Christopher J. Foster, 37, of Piqua, was arrested for OVI.

SUSPICIOUS: Police responded to a suspicious complaint at 4:30 a.m. on the 100 block of South Wayne Street. Complainant advised he thought someone was in his house that night while he was at work. Nothing was missing but several items were not where the complainant left them.

TRAFFIC STOP: An officer stopped a vehicle for the driver having a suspended driver’s license at 7 a.m. on the 300 block of Brentwood Avenue. The driver was cited. Gary L. Lentz, 61, of Piqua, was cited for driving under suspension.

BURGLARY: Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Adams Street for a burglary complaint. Complainant said someone kicked in a door to a detached garage and took items sometime between 10 p.m. July 30 and 10 a.m. July 31.

SEX OFFENSE: There was a report of a possible sexual/physical abuse incident at approximately 9:30 p.m. The location was redacted.

ACCIDENT: A driver ran a red light, per an independent witness, striking a male on a motorcycle at approximately 11:10 p.m. in the area of East Water and North Main streets. The at-fault driver was cited.

Aug. 1

DISTURBANCE: Police responded to a call referencing an intoxicated male causing a disturbance at 4:10 a.m. on the 300 block of Harrison Street. Upon arrival, a male was located outside of the residence. It was determined that the male had broken a window out of the front door. Treshon R. Whitson, 24, of Troy, was charged with second-degree misdemeanor criminal damage.

HIT SKIP: A vehicle was struck some time overnight on the 300 block of Wood Street. The suspect is unknown.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE: A female subject reported her fence and her neighbor’s fence were damaged with paint sometime overnight on the 400 block of First Street.

TRESPASSING: Subjects were located in a vacant house at 6:50 p.m. on the 600 block of South Downing Street. Richard T. King, 27, of Dayton, was cited for fourth-degree misdemeanor criminal trespass.

TRESPASSING: Police located a male trespassing at the Piqua Public Library where he had been warned before not to return to at 7:30 p.m. Timothy A. Johnson, 59, of Troy, was cited for fourth-degree misdemeanor criminal trespass.

TRAFFIC STOP: An officer stopped a vehicle for going left of center at 9 p.m. in the area of Young and South Wayne streets. A driver was found to be OVI. Micah A. Bertholomey, 40, of Piqua, was was arrested and charged for OVI.

Aug. 2

SEX OFFENSE: A sex offense was reported at approximately 2 a.m. The location was redacted.

TRESPASSING: An officer performed a building check on a condemned property at approximately 9 a.m. on the 1000 block of West High Street. The front door was found to be unsecured. A subject was found sleeping inside. Nicky L. Reed, 48, of Piqua, was cited for fourth-degree misdemeanor criminal trespass.

ACCIDENT: There was a report of a two-vehicle crash at approximately 2:15 p.m. on the 100 block of South Sunset Drive. One person was transported to the hospital.

CITIZEN ASSIST: There was a report of a male juvenile who crashed into a parked vehicle and left at approximately 9 p.m. on the 100 block of Cleveland Street. The juvenile had returned to the scene prior to officer arrival. The damage to the vehicle was not intentional, and the juvenile’s father was given the phone number of the vehicle owner to pay for the damage that had been caused.

UNRULY: Subject stated a juvenile and several individuals were smoking marijuana upstairs in a residence at 9:25 p.m. on Grant Street. Female juvenile was cited.

DISTURBANCE: Subjects were arguing about property at 11 p.m. on the 8400 block of North County Road 25-A. Subjects both stated they were assaulted by the other subject. Male took his property and moved out. Male was trespassed from the residence.
