TROY — The Lincoln Community Center will hold its ninth annual Back to School Bash on Sunday, Aug. 16. This is an event designed to ensure that students have the materials they need for a successful start to a new school year.
This year’s bash will be a drive-up event. Those interested may call the LCC or stop in the office to sign up. A reserved time slot for pick-up will be given.
This event is free and open to all students from preschool through 12th grade attending school in Miami County. To ensure that there are no duplication of services during this event, the LCC makes sure to collaborate with surrounding agencies. Over the last few years, at the Lincoln Center alone, over 300 Miami County students have been served each year.
In addition to school supplies, LCC also typically offer free haircuts, lunch, a sweet treat, and has local businesses passing out their items as well. Due to COVID-19, this year will have to look different than the years past.
“We will not be able to give out free haircuts or have businesses with us this year, but in following our mission of informing the community, we would still like to pass out your product and promote your business name,” a recent press release from the center states.
In order for this event to be a success, LCC relies on the generosity of local groups, churches, private donors, businesses, and other area nonprofits. The center is currently seeking sponsors to provide donations for this year’s event. This can be school supplies, product vouchers, monetary donations, or however you feel as though you want to give.
