Burglary suspect identified

UNION TOWNSHIP — On Monday, June 15, Miami County Sheriff’s Office deputies took two burglary reports and three breaking and entering reports on Iddings Road, Frederick-Garland Road, and Ginghamsburg-Frederick Road in Union Township.

The burglaries had occurred overnight with the suspect entering two attached garages and stealing items along with entering the property of three other home owners and stealing from their cars, according to Sheriff Dave Duchak. Duchak said detectives have identified the suspect as Michael L. Kleismit, 35, with a last known address of Verona, Ohio. Some of the stolen property has been recovered.

Detectives were familiar with Kleismit from previously arresting him for three counts of breaking and entering for committing similar crimes in Newton Township this past February, Duchak said. Kleismit was out on bond on those charges, he said.

Kleismit is currently incarcerated in the Clark County jail and also faces similar charges in Darke and Montgomery counties. Deputies will be presenting the most recent cases in Union Township to a Miami County grand jury for consideration. Miami County currently has a warrant detainer on Kleismit, according to Duchak.
