Road closed

NEWBERRY TOWNSHIP — Perry Road will be closed through Aug. 14 in order for crews to replace a bridge. The location of the closure is 100 feet west of McMaken Road.

Blood drive upcoming

DAYTON — Upper Valley Medical Center and Troy Church of the Brethren will host community blood drives Wednesday, July 8. The Upper Valley Medical Center blood drive will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3130 N. Dixie Highway.

The Troy Church of the Brethren blood drive will be from 1-7 p.m. at 1431 W. Main St., Troy.

Donors must make an appointment and wear a face mask.

YMCA taking sign-ups for classes

MIAMI COUNTY — The summer session of classes at the Miami County YMCA will begin on Monday, July 6. Registration for the summer session starts on Monday, June 29 for members and Thursday, July 2 for nonmembers. Summer programming that will be offered includes: land and water fitness classes, swim lessons, gymnastics, youth sports camps and Silver Sneakers classes.

The Miami County YMCA is also running a free seven-week fitness challenge for all YMCA members. The “Spring Into Summer Challenge” will motivate members to set their own fitness and nutrition goals by choosing from 20 different mini-challenges. Members have the entire seven weeks of the summer session to complete as many challenges as possible. Every completed goal goes into a drawing for YMCA prizes including baseball hats, T-shirts, personal training coupons and a YMCA gym bag.

YMCA to host swim strokes clinic

TROY — The Miami County YMCA Robinson Branch will be holding swim stroke clinics every Tuesday and Thursday in July beginning July 7 from 7-8 p.m. The clinic is open for member and nonmember registration. Space is limited, so participants are encouraged to register early.

Parents are asked to bring a swim suit, goggles, and towels for their swimmers to the program. If they have their own kick boards and pull buoys, they are encouraged to bring those and other competitive equipment as well. All other equipment will be provided by the Miami County YMCA. Sign language class offered

TIPP CITY — Tipp Monroe Community Services is offering a sign language class for children and parents. In each class, students will learn the items listed below and 25 additional random words needed for the last class. The instructor is Samantha Graybill. It will be beneficial for both to take the class so that the parent will know what the child is learning and can practice together. The classes run from 6-7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays beginning July 27 for three weeks.

The cost for the class is $68 resident, $70 nonresident for one adult and one child. Additional siblings are an additional $38 resident and $40 nonresident. To register and pay, visit tmcomservices.org. The class will be in person at the TMCS Building located at 3 E. Main St., Tipp City.

The course schedule is as follows: first class: Alphabet A-M; second class: Alphabet; N-Z; third class: Numbers; fourth class: Colors; fifth class: Time and days of the week; sixth class: Short Sentences.
