Golf tournament to be held

BRADFORD — The annual Christmas in July golf tournament honoring the memory of Staci Jo Blythe will be held July 18 at Stillwater Valley Golf Club.

All proceeds from this event will be used to provide Christmas gifts for needy kids in the area, as well as kids who are inpatient care at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and receive treatment at the James Cancer Hospital at Ohio State University.

The outing will be a four-person scramble with a Peoria Handicap System and a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Registration forms are available at the golf course. Hole sponsorships are available for $50 and can be sent to the Stillwater Valley Golf Club at 9235 Seibt Road, Bradford, OH 45308.

WACO to offer Aviation Academy

TROY — WACO Air Museum, 1865 S. County Road 25-A, Troy, will offer its Aviation Academy from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from July 20-24.

This five-day course will enrich fifth-eighth grader’s science and technology base by exposing them to all things aviation.

Campers will complete five days of hands on learning and fun. Organizers will walk them through the history, theory and science of aviation. The academy begins with lessons on kites, gliders, and balloons, moving on to rockets and radio controlled airplanes. Ground school instructions and simulators prepare our campers for an introductory flight in a real general aviation plane.

Certified FAA pilots will instruct students in the basics of flight. Career pilots will expose children to the future of aviation. Experienced staff will provide a wealth of knowledge as well.

Learn to make jewelry

TIPP CITY — Learn to make your own pair of earrings with different types and gauges of wire, tools and tool safety used in making jewelry from 6-8:30 p.m.beginning July 8 for three Wednesdays at the Tipp-Monroe Community Services building, 3 E. Main St., Tipp City.

Each participant will make different ear wires, baubles and unique earrings. By the end of class, participants will leave with a finished pair of sterling silver earrings. The instructor is Samantha Graybill.

The cost of the class is $83 for residents, $85 for nonresidents plus an additional $15 supply fee paid directly to instructor. T
