TROY — The Seventh annual St. Patrick School Alumni and Friends Shamrock Shuffle 5K race will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 14.

The race will begin at the Troy Memorial Stadium and continue along the scenic Miami River bike path and return back to the stadium. Following the race, the St. Patrick’s Day festivities will continue as race participants, family and friends will be treated to the now famous, Kegs and Eggs breakfast at the St. Patrick Church Undercroft, 409 E. Main St.
Awards and door prizes will be presented during that time with the top three finishers in each age group receiving collectible race beer steins. Younger participants will receive “pots of gold” filled with candy.
“This is our seventh year for the race and it just keeps growing,” said Terry Reese, one of the race committee members. “This is a fun, family event that benefits the students at St. Patrick School. We were able to award five scholarships last year and hope to increase the number this year. So, ‘get your green on” and be ready to have some fun. It will be a Grand Day for Sure! I mean, come on, who doesn’t have fun on St. Patrick’s Day?”
Reese said they are anticipating 250-300 people to register for the race and it is fun to see the racers dress up in colorful Irish costumes.. You can register for the Shamrock Shuffle 5K Race at Speedy-feet.com. Pre-race registration is $25 with a T-shirt if registration is received by Friday, Feb. 28.
